Custom design > Public art > ‘Litmus’

A pH strip litmus test is a scientific tool to measure environmental and human health quality through visual colour gradation markers. The Litmus artwork, manufactured and installed by TILT, is a reference to the pH strips of the litmus test.

It reflects the local biodiversity and natural environments that surround the Carnes Hill Precinct’s parks, bushland and water systems. Litmus celebrates the diversity of the local community and its natural surroundings through signifier colours that resonate with different connective meanings based on cultural experience, spiritual belief, and symbols of identity.

The public artwork was officially launched by Clr Wendy Waller, Mayor of Liverpool City on 3 December 2016.
