TILT was involved in design development, engineering and manufacturing of a major sculptural installation, ‘Malu Githalayl’, by acclaimed Australian artist Brian Robinson. This work was part of a ground-breaking exhibition, ‘Australia: Defending the Oceans at the Heart of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands Art’, presented at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Brian Robinson is represented by CREATIVEMOVE and Onespace Gallery.
The installation includes three vibrantly colourful crabs, fixed to the façade of the Musée Océanographique de Monaco.
TILT prepared detailed 3D computer models for each crab which were then utilised to produce 2D manufacturing drawings.
The team elected to use the honeycomb aluminium panel for the body structure due its light weight and high strength characteristics to withstand high wind loads on the building’s façade.
